Ionized Water Floor Care Study

Thursday, August 19th, 2010

There’s a lot of talk in the custodial world lately about ionized water, and we wondered – does it really work?  So we set out to see, in a “difficult” janitorial environment – a soft-drink bottling and shipping location.  The floors in the facility have sticky, sugary residue as well as petroleum-based products on the floor.  It’s a 24-7 operation, very challenging to keep clean.

Here’s the case study results of our test of Tennant’s ec-H2O floor scrubber – it may surprise you!  In general, we were very impressed by the performance of the electrolyzed water system, and believe that if it can work in this setting, it can work in most settings.

Have you used an ec-H2O?  What were your results?

Kaivac, Inc. has launched an Integrated Cleaning and Measurement or ICM™ Field Lab program.   It’s purpose is to utilize scientists and consultants to assist with field measurement and interpretation of data for meaningful results and continuous process improvement in the janitorial industry.

The ultimate goal is to help facilities  select processes systematically based on measurement for better, faster and healthier outcomes.  Custodial operations can definitely improve cleanliness performance and have a positive affect on the bottom line of business.

Elliott Affiliates, Ltd., a national consultancy for cleaning performance improvement and ICM advocate will be assisting with the ICM Field Lab Program.  Vince Elliott, principal, says “What is measured gets improved, and the quality of the measurement affects the quality of the data.”   Bad data, bad decisions!

Elliott Affiliates will assist in promoting accurate and meaningful measurement and quality assurance in gathering, collating, analyzing and reporting the real-world field data consistently.  That expert guidance is predicted to help the cleaning industry select better products and processes to enhance cleaning, productivity and health benefits.

Clean Floors with WATER?

Thursday, July 15th, 2010

We wondered – can you really use electrolyzed water to clean in a challenging environment?  Very challenging – like, say, a soft-drink bottling plant and shipping warehouse.  Think syrup, sugar, and petroleum products, all over the floor.  Would it really work?

We conducted an independent, 3rd party study of the effectiveness of Tennant/Orbio’s ec-H2O machine to find out.  http://yhoo.it/dtDikf

The results were surprising and so encouraging.  Facilities and custodial managers have another tool in their sustainability toolbox!

What do you think?  Have you used electrolyzed water?  Tell me about it below!
